Whew! Now *everybody* knows & I’m no longer committed to keeping that secret. I found out that Ashly (one of my very best friends) was pregnant last November. She already has one beautiful daughter named Olivia who is sweet, pretty & looks a whole lot like Snow White from Once Upon a Time (you can look for yourself in the following photos. I wanted to do something fun & a little different for Ashly & her family so I settled on a gender reveal party. If you’ve never heard of a gender reveal party – it’s exactly what it sounds like. Everyone gets together to find out the gender of the baby – it’s fun & a great excuse to have a party.
I decided to do the party in a yellow & grey chevron with a “Beau or Bow” theme, & that was all Ashly got to know until the party. It was top secret business. We ended up using lemons & penguin coolers as the centerpieces with white table cloths & yellow runners. Dylan & I folded the napkins into bows and menu inserts for the tables.
I designed, printed and created all the paper materials. It was so much fun to finally be designing again since I haven’t done much of it since high school. I stuck with a gender neutral feel for all of the decor.
My mom, Dylan & I prepared the food (okay, mostly my mom & Dylan – I was busy setting up & making it pretty). The food was delicious & there was so much. I’m pretty sure my mom could feed an army off of two boxes of stuffing & a ham – it’s a gift. Since Ashly is a self described “meat & potatoes type of girl,” what better to serve. The menu included chicken & noodles, ham, stuffing, corn and a mashed potato bar. I love mashed potato bars, and the one at this party was awesome.
After dinner & cupcakes, we finally got to the reveal. Ashly & Robby are expecting another beautiful girl!
A few days before the party, Ashly started to get a feeling Baby Collins was a girl – she promptly told Robby “I told you so!” when the pink ribbon came out.
I couldn’t have carried this party out without the help of my mom & Dylan who spent all day transporting rentals, cooking and setting up. I owe them a huge thank you! I also hope Ashly’s & Robby’s family enjoyed the party as much as I did – it was so much fun hosting it for you.
